Mareike Thomaier moves to Bietigheim

Mareike Thomaier played her first World Cup Games for Germany in the last few weeks. The champion team SG BBM Bietigheim want to take advantage of the prospering player on the field, the deal is signed for 2024/25.

Thomaier has maintained all her youth career in Bayer Leverkusen colours. Several years in Bundesliga took her in question for the national team with the first call-up in 2020. She might shine even more, since Bietigheim have made a mark as a serious CL contender.

– I chose Bietigheim because the club has consistently shown in recent years what professional handball can look like in Germany and because it provides me with the best conditions to develop further.

– I’m really looking forward to the task ahead and the opportunity to gain international experience, says Thomaier to the club webpage.

In Bundesliga, Thomaiers stats make up for 52 of Leverkusens goals after eight games. The move is undoubtedly up the career ladder, from the team in eight position to Bietigheim who has won all the games but one in the league.
