Magdeburg claims top spot in the Bundesliga

Flensburg and Magdeburg met for an early-season showdown with first place on the line, and the visitors delivered a stunning second-half performance to take control of the Bundesliga race. Magdeburg overturned a halftime deficit to defeat Flensburg 31–35 and move to the top of the table.

Flensburg, entering the match as league leaders, started strongly and built an early advantage. They carried a 17–15 lead into the break after a disciplined first-half display.

But the match flipped dramatically after halftime. Magdeburg emerged with renewed intensity, dominating both ends of the court and seizing momentum. Kristjansson spearheaded the comeback, scoring eight goals and driving the visitors’ offensive surge.

Once Magdeburg captured the lead, they never relinquished it. Their relentless second-half push allowed them to pull away, ultimately securing a four-goal victory.

The win puts Magdeburg one point ahead of Flensburg at the top of the Bundesliga—and with a game in hand, they now hold a firm grip on first place.
