The personnel changes continue in rapid pace for Füchse Berlin. The Bundesliga leader will meet SC Magdeburg on Sunday, with Nicolej Krickau in charge by the bench, according to the club website.
The Thursday announcement from the capital club brings some major news. The iconic sporting director Stefan Kretzchmar who already planned to leaving on the expiration of his current contract, departs with immediate effect.
The same goes for the head coach, Jaron Siewert after a five year stint, no more than three months since the Bundesliga success last season.
The Danish coach, Krickau tried Bundesliga training for the first time with SG Flensburg-Handewitt in an agreement that ended abruptly in December 2024.
A three year-contract with Berlin makes him return to top level, meaning big changes for the team.
– After the developments of the past few days, we felt that a fundamental change was needed. The fact that we are now parting ways with Jaron at the end of a turbulent 48 hours is the most difficult decision of my 20 years with the Füchse.
– We are very grateful to Jaron for his dedication and commitment. We hold the past few years close to our hearts. At the same time, we are also looking ahead. With Nicolej Krickau, we have secured our ideal candidate for the big challenges ahead. He will leave his mark on our team. We look forward to working with him, says Füchse Berlins managing director Bob Hanning to the club website.
