Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson continues in Gummersbach

In the beginning of 2020 VfL Gummersbach had capacity of a top 2. Bundesliga side. Enter Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson and the project to the first division finally was launched. No wonder the club announces the recent contract extension with the coach in a proud fashion.

Sigurdsson was well known in Gummersbach, having played a couple of seasons in the club from 2005. But hs coaching qualities was also proven in the solid switch to establish the team among the league giants.

– When we brought Goggi to VfL, the aim was for him to convey professionalism and bring the winning gene to the club. When you see how many players from the second division are still in the squad today, who are now national players and play in Europe, you can see that he has implemented this one hundred percent, says the managing director Christoph Schindler to the club webpage.

Sigurdsson will stay for two more years, thus adding cup to seven seasons in the local environment.

–I receive so much support from those around me, my coaching team, the medical department and everyone here at the club. And last but not least there is the team, because the guys are so committed that it is a pleasure to work with them, says Sigurdsson to the club website.
