As all teams in contention for the title won their Sunday matches, Füchse Berlin retains first place after 32 of 34 rounds. The current number two, SC Magdeburg brought along a worrying injury to Gisli Kristjansson.
Berlin played their cards to victory over TVB Stuttgart, who completely lost the plot after the break. Dejan Milosavljev dominated between the posts and the guests impressed across the board with several five-goal producers, including Mathias Gidsel, who most likely will finish second in the overall scoring league.
The total leader Marko Grgic scored nine times when ThSV Eisenach almost knocked MT Melsungen to a point loss. Dainis Kristopans scored the decisive goal, Melsungen is still in the mix threatening the two teams above in the table.
Magdeburg’s capable Icelander Gisli Kristjansson appeared for only three minutes before he was hit in the shoulder in the away game against TBV Lemgo Lippe. No more play for the day and a worrying prognosis of ligament damage was the club’s communication afterwards.
Philipp Weber (eleven goals) and Felix Claar (seven) steered Magdeburg to victory in Kristjansson’s absence. It became tight and Lemgo tied the game after 52 minutes. Albin Lagergren took the guests back into the lead and Magdeburg was able to ward off further chances for Lemgo to catch up, 29–31 in the end.
In the bottom battle, HC Erlangen completed a vital win over SG BBM Bietigheim and thus changed places with the worst competitor, at the moment out of the relegation zone.
