Flensburg defeats Bietigheim – and Jakobsen extends until 2029

On the court, SG Flensburg-Handewitt defeated SG BBM Bietigheim. Off the court, fans had another reason to celebrate – left winger Emil Jakobsen extended his contract until 2029.

Just over two weeks ago, Flensburg’s coach Nicolej Krickau was dismissed, and since then, former Flensburg player Anders Eggert has taken over as head coach. Yesterday, the reigning European League champions faced the newcomers SG BBM Bietigheim.

The match ended in a comfortable home victory, 39–27. Danish left winger Emil Jakobsen was the game’s top scorer and celebrated his contract extension until 2029 by scoring ten goals.

– With Emil, we have one of the world’s best left wingers committing to SG, and that naturally makes us proud, said the club’s CEO Holger Glandorf in a press release about the extension.

The 26-year-old joined Flensburg in 2021 and has since made a significant impact on Flensburg’s supporters, scoring 571 Bundesliga goals for the club.

– We have a fantastic team here. I want to achieve much more in my career, and I feel I can do that with SG, the player said.

The Bundesliga now takes a break for the World Championship until February 8.
