First Bundesliga gold for Füchse Berlin a fact

Füchse Berlin achieved a longtime goal, winning its first ever Bundesliga title. The table number one had to deal with some pressure and fell behind Rhein-Neckar Löwen for nearly 40 minutes, the finish was equally convincing and strong to 38–33.

European League 2022/23 and the domestic Supercup in 2024 were the two last titles – until the capital team entered the Sunday challenge with full dedication.

Rhein-Neckar Löwen had no intention to offer anything for free. Mathias Geisel entered goal production after two and a half minute, making it 3–1 on the board.

Via breakthroughs and holes in the away team defense RNL scored further to scare the favourite team. It was still lions in the lead after the first high paced ten minutes but Berlin was never far behind.

Meanwhile at SG BBM Bietigheim, SC Magdeburg had the same small advantage after a slow start.

Rhein-Neckar Löwen worked well to put Jon Lindenchrone Andersen in good position from distance and Berlin got their attempts locked down while the home team pushed on.

Tim Nothdurft was awarded a penalty which Juri Knorr converted for 15–10. Gidsel and Fabian Wiede made an effort to reduce the gap and the halftime score was 20–17.

Magdeburg had a good grip on Bietigheim after five goals each from Felix Claar and Omar Ingi Magnusson meaning the upper hand in the gold race with 30 minutes remaining of the season.

The drama involved the lions and the foxes and it took the away team ten minutes more to equalize, with the ninth goal from Gidsel. A RNL timeout didn’t change the lack of energy and Berlin could increase their lead.

With the title in sight, Berlin brought determination in play. Gidsel was the prominent star but Tim Freihöfer joined him on two digits with varied penalty shots. Mijajlo Marsenic and Lasse Bredekjaer Andersson added the final hits to secure the 2024/25 title.
