Fabian Wiede out for rest of the season

Fabian Wiede, huge resource in Füchse Berlin is forced to stop the season. The back court player was injured in a CL game last week and got a devastating report – a cruciate ligament tear soon afterwards.

Wiede left the game against Veszprem KC in huge pain. The signs of a long-time knee injury where there, without relief from the examination.

– The injury hurts a lot! I’m extremely shocked right now and just want to thank everyone for their wishes for a speedy recovery. This will be a long and tough road to recovery. But knowing that I can’t help the team is also very difficult, he says to the club webpage.

The 31-year-old made the move from VfL Potsdam to the major capital club already during his junior years.

Injury-ridden Wiede has had to recover from many setbacks before, though not an ACL tear.

– It hurts terribly – firstly, as Fabi’s teammate, because we know how much he’s struggled with injuries in the past. We’re thinking of him during this difficult time. At the same time, it’s also a huge loss for the team, because Fabi offers us tremendous quality in many phases of the game, says the coach Nicolej Krickau to the club webpage.

Without Wiede in the lineup Berlin narrowly lost to Hamburg in the Weekend league game.
