THW Kiel and SG Flensburg-Handewitt played out a thrilling 31–31 draw in the latest edition of the Northern derby.
The two German giants produced an intense derby. Domen Makuc was one of Kiel’s key players, scoring nine goals from 11 attempts, while Emil Madsen added five from seven.
For Flensburg, both Lukas Pytlick and Aymeric Minne played important roles in attack, scoring seven goals each.
Kiel had control of the game for long periods and built a five-goal lead in the second half before Flensburg began to fight their way back. Simon Möller proved to be a key factor in the comeback, making several crucial saves during the closing stages as Flensburg gradually closed the gap.
The drama continued until the very end. After Marko Grgić levelled the score at 31–31, Kiel had a chance to win it in the final seconds. Julian Köster found the net, but after a video review, the goal was ruled out for travelling. The Nordderby ultimately ended in a 31–31 draw.
