Thüringer HC couldn´t keep up with Borussia Dortmund in the top battle in Bundesliga. The only logical opposition for the league title, HSG Blomberg-Lippe also won their Wednesday game trailing one point behind Dortmund.
Half-way, Thüring had a slight grip with 13–12 over the table leader. But Dortmund increased the pace with a vengeance in the second half as Alina Grijseels found openings for her own shots and teammates in good positions.
Kelly Vollebregt also contributed a great deal in the forward action for Dortmund. Another key player was Sarah Wachter between the posts with 16 competent saves that hindered Thüring severely in the more and more futile chase.
Dortmund secured the win with 33–22 leaving a gap of five points down to THC. But second placed HSG Blomberg-Lippe also roared, 40–22 versus Frisch Auf Göppingen making the quest for the total league win as a duel with four rounds to go of the first stage.
Nieke Kühne led the way for Blomberg-Lippe who had decided the home game with a ten-goal advantage after 30 minutes.
