Dominik Kuzmanović is leaving VfL Gummersbach for a move to league rivals SC Magdeburg. The 23-year-old goalkeeper will join next season and form a goalkeeping duo with his national teammate Matej Mandić.
– It is a great honor for me to become part of the SCM family, Kuzmanović told the club’s official website.
With 285 saves and a save percentage of over 30, Kuzmanović had a really strong season last year. He has continued to perform this season for both club and country, recently helping Croatia secure a bronze medal at the European Championship.
At just 23 years old, he is regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising goalkeepers, which has made Magdeburg act. The club has signed Kuzmanović to a five-year contract starting next season.
– With Kuzmanović, we are getting a young and talented goalkeeper we have been monitoring for a long time. I am confident that he and Matej Mandić will help us achieve our goals, says head coach Bennet Wiegert.
In Magdeburg, Kuzmanović will form a goalkeeping partnership with his national team colleague Mandić. Both were part of the Croatian team that won European Championship bronze.
– It is a great honor for me to become part of the SCM family. The move to Magdeburg is an important milestone for me. I am convinced that together we will experience many special moments and create some fantastic stories, the goalkeeper says.
