MT Melsungen´s key player between the posts is out for the rest of the season. The webpage of the Bundesliga club presents the disheartening news that Nebojsa Simic suffered an ACL injury during the league match last weekend.
Melsungen is contention for the title and occupies the second position. The supreme season has also brought the team to the quarterfinal stage in European League.
The busy program has also taken its toll. The club statement mentions that Simic ”twisted his knee” towards the end in the game versus VfL Gummersbach.
As a consequence, with a confirmed cruciate ligament plus meniscus injury there will be an operation and further rehab until the 32-year-old can be back on court in the German environment.
Carsten Lichtlein entered the goalkeeper team after Simic´s setback and proved vital in the 28–27 win over Bidasoa Irun Tuesday evening. Adam Morawski and Pawel Krawczyk are also prepared to give it all for Melsungen in the upcoming season defining match-ups.
