Bergischer lost pace versus Hamburg

Two wins in a row took Bergischer HC back in contention to avoid relegation. But another point chance slipped out of BHC´s hands, Hamburg finished forcefully in the second half and won 32–30.

Bergischer started the Thursday game with the hope to reduce the three-point gap to HC Erlangen. A true team effort stood behind the three-goal lead at half-time, with Peter Johannesson´s goalkeeper performance at the very top. BHC was even up by five when Hamburg’s Niklas Weller saw the red card after 20 minutes.

The exclusion standing was soon equalized, Frederik Ladefoged in the away team had to leave the pitch. Hamburg´s rock pillar Zoran Ilic and rapid attacker Casper Mortensen saw an opportunity to catch up, 18–18 after 33 minutes.

With ten minutes to go, it was impossible to call the winner. But Hamburg had the most resources at hand, Mortensen managed seven goals and passed 200 goals as a season total.

For Bergischer, two points in the next home game against TBV Lemgo Lippe is an absolute must. Füchse Berlin and SG Flensburg-Handewitt in the season finale is hard enough opposition.
