The French national team star Dika Mem has injured his left thumb. The Champions League winner now looks set to miss the national team’s preparations for this summer’s Olympics. Kentin Mahe has been called up as a replacement for the training matches.
Earlier this year, Dika Mem was named Europe’s best right winger and is one of France’s key players heading into the Olympics. Now, with just over two weeks left until the Olympics premiere, the global star has sustained an injury.
The French Handball Federation reported that the star injured his left thumb during Tuesday’s training session.
– Examinations conducted last night at the Bagnolet hospital revealed no fractures, but indicated the need for several days of immobilization, said team doctor Dr. Emmanuel Bidet.
Now, Kentin Mahe, who was not previously part of the Olympic squad, has been brought in and will participate in the national team’s two training matches.
France will play their first match on July 27 against Denmark.
