BK-46 in control of Finnish league

Out of the seven teams in the men’s elite league in Finland, BK-46 is definitely the one to beat. After 19 games, BK-46 has won 17 and the first chaser Riihimäen Cocks was once again unable to threaten the title favourite.

Cocks came close with a lead in the second half and a two-goal-loss after 60 minutes. But BK-46 from Karjaa between Helsinki and Turku had saved some energy for the final minutes, Nico Rönnberg (13 goals) and Sebastian Säkkinen scored repeatedly for 32–30.

– Good even game. We took a little too many penalties and the red card in the first half. At the end we were still a little better and the match was decided in our favor. I am completely satisfied, said the winning coach Andreas Rönnberg to the website of the Finnish Handball Association.

The league stage includes double round-robins. BK-46 is seven points ahead of Cocks with 3–0 in head-to-head-record. The top duo will meet again already on Saturday afternoon.
