Netherlands Part Ways with Olsson

Following a failed World Championship qualification campaign, it has been confirmed that Staffan Olsson will step down as head coach of the Netherlands.
–We both agreed that this is the right time to end our cooperation, Olsson said on the federation’s website.

Olsson took charge of the Dutch national team in 2022 and guided them to a 14th-place finish at the 2023 World Championship — their first appearance at the tournament since 1961. Despite that milestone, the recent qualification setback ultimately led to the decision to part ways.

–After open and constructive discussions, Staffan Olsson and NHV mutually agreed that this is the right time to end the cooperation, said general director Jaap Wals in a statement.

–The discussions with NHV about the future were positive and respectful, and we both agreed that this is the right time to end our cooperation, Olsson added.

Olsson has previously coached clubs such as Hammarby as well as the Swedish national team and PSG. Now without a position, it remains to be seen what his next move will be, while the Netherlands have yet to name a successor.
