On Wednesday the European Handball Federation (EHF) announced the winners of the EHF Excellence Awards 2025, recognising the best female handball players of the 2024/25 season.
Between 4 and 9 June, players, coaches, selected handball journalists, and fans took part in voting for the prestigious “Team of the Season.” Each group’s vote counted equally, with 25% influence on the final outcome.
For every playing position on the court — left wing, left back, centre back, right back, right wing, line player, goalkeeper, and defender — six nominees were chosen based on their performances during the season at both national team and club levels.
The Women’s Team of the Season 2024/25 is as follows:
Left wing: Chloé Valentini (France / Metz Handball)
Left back: Estelle Nze Minko (France / Györi Audi ETO KC)
Centre back: Henny Reistad (Norway / Team Esbjerg)
Right back: Dione Housheer (Netherlands / Györi Audi ETO KC)
Right wing: Viktória Gyori-Lukács (Hungary / Györi Audi ETO KC)
Line player: Kari Brattset Dale (Norway / Györi Audi ETO KC)
Goalkeeper: Katrine Lunde (Norway / Odense Håndbold)
Defender: Kari Brattset Dale (Norway / Györi Audi ETO KC)
Following this announcement, the EHF will select the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) from among the seven positional winners and the best defender. The MVP and the Young Player of the Season will be revealed at the EHF Champions League 2025/26 group phase draw on 27 June.
