The European Handball Federation has confirmed its shortlist for the MVP of the 2023/24 season after a meeting of the EHF Executive Committee in Austria. Three male and three female players have been nominated.
In the men’s category, the nominees are Dika Mem (France/Barça), Emil Nielsen (Denmark/Barça), and Magnus Saugstrup (Denmark/SC Magdeburg). For the women’s award, the shortlist includes Stine Oftedal (Norway/Györi Audi ETO KC, now retired), Chloé Valentini (France/Metz Handball), and Line Haugsted (Denmark/Györi Audi ETO KC, currently with Team Esbjerg).
These players were selected from the ‘Team of the Season 2023/24,’ which was determined by an online vote involving players, coaches, media, and fans. The MVPs will be announced at the EHF Excellence Awards gala on December 14, 2024, during the Women’s EHF EURO 2024.

Additionally, the EHF will present the inaugural ‘European Olympic Excellence Award’ to Mathias Gidsel and Katrine Lunde for their exceptional performances at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Gidsel was the tournament’s MVP and top scorer, while Lunde secured her third Olympic gold medal and also earned MVP honors.
Both Gidsel and Lunde will be officially recognized at the EHF Excellence Awards gala in Vienna on December 14, 2024.
