Dragan Gajic announces retirement

Slovenian national player and Starligue Professional Dragan Gajic has decided to call it quits when the 2023/24 season comes to an end. After 25 years, Gajic has only four months left of his wing career.

Via Twitter, Gajic publishes a short letter with the reasoning behind his decision.

”Handball has been much more than just a sport for me. It has been a passion, a way of life, an extraordinary adventure that has shaped every aspect of my personality”, writes the 39-year-old.

Thought is not yet time for the final summary, Gajic had more than 15 good years in the Slovenian jersey. A total of 692 goals, including the title as top scorer in WC 2015.

The right wing moved to Montpellier HB in 2011 and came back to France close to a decade later, after a four-year-run with Telekom Veszprem. Nearly 1 500 goals (1 425 at the moment) in his french clubs bear witness of his importance for Montpellier and Limoges.

”My body has always served me well and I feel I can still plays, but in my career I´ve achieved all of my goals and I believe it´s time to make a way for a new generation full of promise and talent, writes Gajic in social media.
