Swedish international Tyra Axnér will leave Metz Handball at the end of the season to join Romanian powerhouse CSM București, taking the next step in an already impressive career.
Still only 23, Axnér has established herself among Europe’s top left backs. A key figure for Metz and a regular presence in the Swedish national team, she has built her reputation on powerful shooting and decisive backcourt play — qualities that have attracted interest from several elite clubs across the continent.
CSM see the signing as an important piece of their long-term project.
– Tyra adds quality and balance to our squad. This transfer is part of the club’s strategy to build a competitive team capable of fighting on all fronts, both domestically and in international competitions, said Chief Operating Officer Răzvan-Mihai Socolovici.
Axnér will make the move to Bucharest this summer ahead of the 2026/27 season.
– I’m excited that the next step in my career will be with CSM — a club with great history and an extraordinary arena. It’s one of the biggest clubs in women’s handball, and they’ve had Swedish players before me whom I admired growing up, Axnér said.
