CSM Bucharest triumphed in Supercup

The procedure was much the same as previous years, CSM Bucharest could lift the trophy in the Romanian Supercup. But the final was refreshingly exciting, Bucharest versus fellow Champions League contender Gloria Bistrita and a narrow win, 28–27.

CSM and Gloria Bistrita are joined in the local league and the same international group in a few weeks time. Thus, the first title game of seasons might create ripples in the pond.

Gloria Bistrita ran away from Rapid Bucharest in the semifinals, 36–28 while CSM advanced via 31–28 versus Dunarea Braila.

In a tight final, Ivana Kapitanović and Gabriela Moreschi duelled with great saves and Daniela So Delgado against Cristina Neagu accounted for left back competition.

Bucharest made a run for 19–26 with just above 20 minute to go and Moreschi held on to a total of 15 saves. Still, Neagu had to return to the field as Gloria Bistrita equalled. In the end, Elizabeth Omoregie decided the outcome with precision and CSM could keep the Supercup with a sixth triumph in the club history.
