CSM Bucharest triumphed in capital duel

CSM Bucharest is undefeated after seven rounds in Liga National. The CL contender, Rapid Bucharest had to accept a loss and trails among the pack, six points behind CSM.

Rapid had the upper hand in the beginning, but CSM was capable of a comeback with breakthroughs by Elizabeth Omoregie as a winning weapon.

With two time-outs, Rapid coach David Ginesta was able to wake the team. The guests repaired at first, 16–15 but in the long run Gabriela Moreschi´s penalty saves and the fast-breaks from CSM was hard to counteract.

– I am very happy because I knew it would be a tough match. Rapid played a very good match the other day in Denmark, against Odense. They have very good players and we know it is a very special game against them. It was important to keep our winning streak going.

– We want to win every game, but when you beat Rapid, it’s all the more joy because we knew it was a special game between two teams from the same city, said CSM coach Helle Thomsen to Gazeta Sporturilor.
