The rebuilt version of CSM Bucharest got away with a tight win over Baia Mare in the first round in Romania. In fact, the margin in 34–33 was the same as in the Super Cup semifinal one week before the premiere.
Despite being on away ground, Baia Mare tested Bucharest’s defense and found about some apparent gaps.
Amelia Lundback was a threat from distance with seven goals while Fie Woller had success from the left wing with six goals.
All in all, Baia Mare was in the lead by six goals in the first half but CSM managed a comeback and had the lead with ten minutes to go.
The final attacks caused some turnovers before Valeriia Maslova could score for a definite home win. Elizabeth Omoregie and Trine Ostergaard Jensen had Bucharest covered when needed to avoid a setback in the league match.
The other capital side, Rapid fell surprisingly against CSM Slatina, 25–26 as Magda Nicoleta Balsam (ten) acted as prominent goal scorer.
