AEK Athens and Olympiacos face deciding final

Handball clubs all over the world are currently between seasons. But in Greece, the title race is still on with AEK Athens and Olympiacos neck to neck after four finals.

The local derby is a regular feature to decide the Greek play-offs and the maximum drama in five shows is equally common for the rivals.

Olympiacos had the upper hand, having won the third game via extra time but Athens overturned 5–9 after almost 15 minutes in the fourth final to a solid lead in the second half.

– We missed the chance we had at the start, as we were ahead 9-5, we were in control of the tempo at this point. Then, our approach changed, we ran slower and the half ended in a draw.

– We have to look at the match again, look at it calmly and improve some things. However, it makes sense, these are finals, both teams want to take the championship. In the next match, we have to be mentally stronger, said Olympiacos coach Zeljko Babic to the club webpage.

The fifth and last final will be played on Sunday on home ground for Olympiacos.
