Ikast HB received a draw with Odense HB in the first semifinal. A success considering the bad news the club presented just hours before the game. Stine Skogrand is forced to abandon the season because of an ACL injury.
Skogrand, on contract with Ikast until 2027, was hurt in a league game almost two weeks ago. Following medical examination the club statement leaves no room for positive interpretation.
– It is an extremely tough blow for Ikast Håndbold. Stine has played at a high level this season, perhaps her highest in her time at the club. She is our captain and extremely important to the team, says Ikast director Daniel Grønhøj in social media.
Being the team’s top scorer for the season, Skogrand found the net 185 times in 29 games.
After the Tuesday tie, both Ikast and Odense can decide the semifinal with a win in the next game. Team Esbjerg ran away from Copenhagen towards the end in the other semifinal and need just one point to secure the final spot.
”It is too early to say how long the injury will keep Stine off the handball court”, Grønhøj continues in Ikast´s Instagram post.
