Thorkelsdóttir to leave Sävehof – joins Ikast in 2027

Elín Klara Thorkelsdóttir will leave IK Sävehof after the upcoming season. The Icelandic star has agreed to join Danish side Ikast Håndbold, where she will continue her career from the summer of 2027.

Thorkelsdóttir originally had a contract with IK Sävehof until 2028. However, following negotiations between the two clubs, it has now been confirmed that the Icelandic national player will leave the Swedish side after the 2026/27 season.

Thorkelsdóttir has made a strong impact since joining Sävehof and was named the MVP of the league last season. She will now spend one more season in Sävehof before making the move to Denmark and Ikast.

– I am grateful to have had the opportunity to develop at Sävehof and to have been given a lot of trust from the beginning. The move to Ikast will be the next step in my career, with new challenges and experiences, but right now I am fully focused on the start of the Handbollsligan and a new season with Sävehof, says Thorkelsdóttir.
