Denmark´s oldest sport prize was awarded to a handball star for 2023. Simon Pytlick´s impressive club and national team level made him very eligible in the ceremony.
Pytlick started the year with a creative role when Denmark won the world championship for the third time in a row. The 23-year-old qualified for the all star team, outperforming the other left backs in January.
During the EHF ceremony in June, Pytlick shone even more when accepting the award as MVP in Europe.
On the familiar handball field, the back court player brought home the cup and championship title with his teammates in GOG. In the summer Pytlick left his native country to join SG Flensburg-Handewitt in Bundesliga.
– The last year Simon developed from a major talent to a world star. That´s only possible by having a top professional attitude, says Morten Henriksen sport director of the Danish Handball federation to the DHF webpage.
The ”Find of the year” award has been distributed since 1929. Pytlick´s win was the fifth time for handball in the prestigious row.
