Silje Solberg soon in action for Team Esbjerg

Team Esbjerg brings reinforcement in the light of an injury situation among the goalkeepers. Silje Solberg Østhassel, already signed from the summer onwards joins the Danish club with immediate effect.

The vulnerable position for Esbjerg occurred when Katharina Filter suffered a foot injury in a recent playoff game. With Anna Kristensen already out for a long time, Esbjerg only had the promising but young alternative of Anna Steffensen to rely on.

Then Solberg became available. The super experienced keeper did complete a license transfer before 15 February and can play the rest of the domestic season with amateur status.

– It’s quite crazy to be hit by two injuries in such a short space of time in the same position. In that situation, I have taken up the challenge to help the team. I haven’t played games since January last year for Vipers in Norway, and now I have to turn up the mental level to be prepared for important games for Team Esbjerg. I’m feeling fine, and we’ll see how it goes, Solberg tells the club website.

The 35-year-old gave birth to a daughter in the autumn. With short notice she prepares for entering the handball court with Esbjerg in the second semifinal versus Ikast HB Thursday evening.

– We are very grateful that Silje Solberg turned out to be an option and that she is willing to help in an extremely difficult situation. She has not played matches for a long time, but has her good physique, her basic skills and above all her experience to draw on. Now we must make it as easy as possible for her to fit into the team and give her good conditions to succeed, says the coach Tomas Axnér to the club website.
