RUMOR: Nora Persson set for Sønderjyske return

Is a reunion on the cards in Aabenraa? According to reports from the Danish Instagram outlet “rygtebors,” Sønderjyske Kvindehåndbold is working on bringing Swedish goalkeeper Nora Persson back to the club for the 2026/27 season.

Nora Persson is a familiar face to the Sønderjyske faithful. The 27-year-old Swede, who started her career at Staffanstorps HK, guarded the net for the club during two successful seasons between 2023 and 2025. Her performance in the light blue jersey made her a key figure before she moved to league rivals Horsens HK ahead of the current season.

However, her stay in Horsens might be short-lived. Recent reports suggest that Persson is poised to return to her former home in Aabenraa following the conclusion of the current campaign.

A proven track record in Denmark

Nora Persson’s journey in the Danish Kvindeligaen began after a standout season with Kristianstad HK in the Swedish top flight during 2018-2019. Her performances in Sweden acted as a springboard for her international career, leading to her first stint in Denmark with Aarhus United, where she played from 2019 to 2023.

Since then, she has established herself as a reliable presence in the Danish league, representing three different clubs and earning two caps for the Swedish national team along the way.

Has already played two seasons in Aabenraa

During her previous two-year stint at Sønderjyske, Persson became a cornerstone of the team’s defense. Her ability to deliver high-level saves in crucial moments helped the club establish itself as a formidable opponent in the league.

After seeking a new challenge with Horsens HK for the 2025/26 season, rumors now indicate that the pull of her former club is too strong to ignore. Sources suggest that negotiations are in the final stages and that an agreement might already be in place for a summer 2026 start.

While neither Sønderjyske nor Horsens HK has officially confirmed the move, all signs point toward the Swedish goalkeeper donning the light blue jersey once again after the summer.
