Lasse Andersson returns to Denmark

HØJ Elite has made a statement signing. Lasse Andersson has signed a four-year contract with the club and will join in the summer of 2026.

After ten years abroad, Lasse Andersson has decided to return home to Denmark. The defensively strong backcourt player has played for both Barcelona and Füchse Berlin, where he won numerous titles. With the Danish national team, Andersson has earned over 80 caps and has been part of squads that won both Olympic and World Championship gold medals.

For HØJ, Andersson is a major reinforcement that clearly signals the club’s ambition to rise to the top of Danish handball.

– Andersson is a big name returning to Denmark. Honestly, we are humbled, but also incredibly happy that we’ve earned the right for him to choose us as his next club, said club director Lars Winther to the club’s website.

Andersson reportedly received multiple offers from top clubs and had the option to extend his contract in Berlin. Despite that, HØJ became the natural choice after discussions with the club.

– I’m looking forward to returning to Denmark with my family, and I’m especially excited to continue my career at HØJ Elite. Through conversations and meetings with Hans Lindberg and Helle Rasmussen, I’ve gained a really good impression of the club and its values and ambitions, said Andersson.
