In an announcement on the club’s website, Ikast Håndbold states that they have fired head coach Søren Hansen with immediate effect.
– After tonight’s match against Team Esbjerg, Ikast Håndbold’s management has decided to end the cooperation with head coach Søren Hansen, the club writes on the website.
After one and a half years in charge, Ikast Håndbold has decided that Hansen is not the right man to lead the club forward, citing a “lack of development” and “fluctuating performances.”
– We do not feel that we are unlocking the potential in the squad, and this has spread to a lack of expression, says director Daniel Grønhøj.
In the statement, Ikast compliments Hansen’s coaching abilities and professionalism and goes on to thank him for the time he has been in charge.
Ikast are currently sitting fourth in the Danish league, with ten points after eight games. Yesterday, they suffered a crushing thirteen-goal defeat against rivals Esbjerg, which made Ikast take action.
Sporting director Daniel Grønhøj says that Claus Mogensen will take over the reins for now and lead the team in Sunday’s Champions League clash against Podravka.
