Team Esbjerg and Viborg HK won the first two coveted places in the Final four of the Danish cup. Esbjerg had a good margin against Horsens HH but Viborg had to endure a last minute affair to eliminate Nykøbing Falster.
The traditional event that decides Pokalturneringen always adds some extra sparkle to the holiday season between Christmas and New Year. Esbjerg has lifted the trophy for times in a row and remains with a chance once more.
Henny Reistad and her back court colleague, Helene Kindberg both found the net eight times and Esbjerg was considerably improved in defense compared to the CL letdown against Gloria Bistrita. The home crowd had calm enough evening with Esbjerg slowly but surely rising their advantage to 34–24.
The other quarterfinal Tuesday evening was decided with 25 seconds to go. Jana Mittun scored only once but with great importance for 30–29 and NFH couldn’t produce any response in the final attack.
Sara Hald (eight goals) was vital for Viborg´s win and Mittun was prominent with assists before producing the match winning goal.
