Done deal: Holstebro swoops in for Swedish starlet

Edwin Aspenbäck has set the tone during his time in Hammarby. But now the club confirms that he is being bought by Holstebro, where he joins after the season.
– Hammarby has given me so much joy, not only on the pitch but also off the pitch, says the 23-year-old on the club’s website.

Edwin Aspenbäck left the safety of IFK Skövde early for Elverum in Norway. But in 2021 he was loaned back and after a strong season he subsequently moved on a permanent basis.

Since then, the success has continued, but on Sunday Hammarby announced that Holstebro from the Danish top league bought the 23-year-old, who moves to his new season after this season.

– Their coach, Arnór Atlason, presented a good plan on how I would fit into his team structure, why they wanted me and how he saw that they could develop me to take further steps in my career. The feeling I got was that this was something long-term and that the club has made a new investment after a couple of difficult years sportingly, which of course feels exciting to be a part of, says the right-back to Hammarby’s website and continues:
– Hammarby has given me so much joy, not only on the pitch but also off the pitch. The club has grown into home, and when I think of the people I’ve gotten to know along the way, it feels like this has been home for longer than 2.5 years. When I look back on it, I have managed to take part in so much, and I feel privileged and proud of it.
