Denmark’s squad against Switzerland – several stars omitted

Denmark’s national handball team is set to compete against Switzerland at the Djurslands Bank Arena in Aarhus on Saturday, March 16th. Head Coach Nikolaj Jacobsen has finalized the squad, comprising a mix of experienced players and emerging talents.

In relation to the squad that won the European Championship-silver last month, several prominent players are absent. This applies both to older stars such as Niklas Landin and Mikkel Hansen, but also to young back players such as Mathias Gidsel and Simon Pytlick. However, other key figures like Emil Nielsen and Kevin Møller are expected to lead the team.

– A large part of the squad consists of those who also participated in the European Championship. However, particularly in the backcourt, I have chosen to give a break both to some of the slightly older players in the squad and to some of those who were most heavily burdened during the European Championship, considering that it is a packed Olympic year, says national coach Nikolaj Jacobsen to the Danish Handball Federation och continues:

– Had it not been an Olympic year, I would probably have experimented a bit more. But I also want to look at some of the players who were close to making it to the EC and give them a chance.
