Denmark’s men’s team has capped their 2025 World Championship triumph by winning two prestigious awards: Team of the Year 2025 and the B.T. Gold.
The awards ceremony, held at DR’s Sport 2025 show in Herning, saw the entire squad on stage to receive the Team of the Year title, for which they were nominated alongside Denmark’s men’s track cycling team and the men’s national ice hockey team. The prestigious B.T. Gold award has been presented since 1930 and is decided by a vote of 40 of the country’s top athletes.
Captain Magnus Saugstrup highlighted the wider effort behind the success:
– We would never have become Team of the Year without the team of volunteer enthusiasts – coaches, club managers, referees and others – who put their time and heart into our sport. They have helped us on our way since our very first matches and continue to make a decisive difference for the more than 5,000 handball teams that take to the field every week all over the country. This award is dedicated to all of Handball Denmark.
Denmark made history by winning their fourth consecutive men’s World Championship.
