Denmark triumphed against Japan – Line Haugsted injured during warm-up

The Danish defensive star, Line Haugsted, sustained an injury during the warm-up before the friendly match against Japan. Haugsted couldn’t participate in the match, yet the Danes were still superior and won with a score of 33–19.

The Danish national team had to manage without Line Haugsted in this afternoon’s friendly against Japan. The defensive general twisted her foot during warm-up after an unfortunate collision with someone from the Japanese team. Coach Jesper Jensen confirmed shortly before the match to Danish TV 2 Sport that Haugsted wouldn’t be able to participate in the match against Japan due to the injury. Additionally, goalkeeper Sandra Toft was absent from the match due to elbow problems and won’t participate in tomorrow’s friendly match against Japan either.

Denmark has previously struggled against Asian nations. Already in the World Championships in December, the Danes lost narrowly to Japan. However, in this afternoon’s match, there was no doubt about the outcome. The Danes were dominant and found solutions both in offense and defense, while Althea Reinhardt acted as a solid wall. When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard showed 33–19.

Final score: Denmark–Japan 33–19 (18–7)
