Aalborg HB had a good preseason weekend in North Germany. The CL contender dominated the final of Heide Cup and defeated HSV Hamburg, 28–25.
After three games in as many days, Aalborg ranked first among Bundesliga opponents and other international guests. In due order, TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, Kolstad IL and Hamburg couldn´t match either the top of Aalborg´s performance and the wide array of options being sent in waves from the bench.
The tight match program had some impact on the Sunday performance but Aalborg ruled from 8–4 in the first quarter. The newcomer, Juri Knorr was a strong factor with six goals. Aalborg also had some in the moment effect to keep the lead, Fabian Norsten´s save followed by 22–20 from Lukas Nilsson set Hamburg back in the final minutes.
In the placement games, VfL Gummersbach ran away to 31–25 and secured fifth place at the expense of Kolstad IL. Hannover-Burgdorf reached top three after 30–26 over Kadetten Schaffhausen.
