It was a close battle between Aalborg and Skanderborg in the Danish Super Cup final. With just one goal separating the two teams in the final minutes, Aalborg managed to pull away to a 31–28 victory to secure the title.
Reigning Danish champions Aalborg were favorites going into the game, but it was Skanderborg who started the Super Cup final on the front foot. Getting some early opportunities playing six against five, Skanderborg were able to build an early four-goal lead.
That wouldn’t last very long, though, mainly because Thomas Arnoldsen had other plans. The center back took over the game in the first half, scoring five quick goals for Aalborg. That allowed them to get back into the game, and when it was time for the break, Aalborg were in the lead 17–15.
The momentum continued in the second half, and after just a few minutes of play, there was a five-goal difference between the teams. Skanderborg, however, showed some real resilience and fought back once again.
After a few good periods, the deficit was cut to just one goal with minutes left on the clock. Aalborg, however, showed their class and were clinical in crunch time to seal the victory and begin their season with a title.
