Aalborg falls short after drama – first loss of the season

Aalborg had lined up 15 games without a loss. But after a collapse against Ribe-Esbjerg, they now also know how it feels to lose in the Danish league game.

Aalborg has dominated the Danish league and in the opening 15 matches they had managed to record 14 wins and a draw, which of course has created a gap down to the chasing teams.

But on Saturday, Aalborg trembled. Although they had the lead 18–12 before the second half, the home team Ribe-Esbjerg would catch up and pass, which led to a 34–33 win.

One of the biggest heroes in Ribe-Esbjerg was Mathias Jørgensen, who scored eleven of the 34 goals for the home team.

The result thus means Aalborg’s first loss in the league during the season. Despite this, they are four points down to chasing Fredericia and eight points down to third in the table Bjerringbro-Silkeborg.
