Kruijer and Castro receive prestigious honors

Ricardo Castro and Meike Kruijer have been named the Most Valuable Players of the 2024 season, based on nominations and All-star Team selections from key events: the ebt Finals in Lacanau, France, the IHF Beach Handball World Championships on Pingtan Island, China, and the EHF Champions Cup in Porto Santo, Portugal.

Castro helped Portugal secure a historic bronze at the World Championships, earning All-star goalkeeper honors. He also led his club, GRD Leça – Spar, to victory at the Champions Cup, where he was again named to the All-star Team.

Kruijer, a key player for the Netherlands, made the All-star Team as her national team took bronze at the Women’s World Championship. She also guided her club, Black Lake Beach, to third place at the Champions Cup, finishing as MVP and second-highest scorer.

Castro and Kruijer will be honoured and receive their awards at the EHF Excellence Awards 2024 gala on 14 December in Vienna, Austria.
