Alexander Petersson has been winding down in the Icelandic league. But now, the club announces that he will be sent on a short-term loan to the Qatari team Al Arabi to participate in the Asian Championship Cup.
Alexander Petersson is one of Iceland’s greatest handball players of all time. His resume includes stints at clubs like Rhein-Neckar Löwen, Flensburg, and Füchse Berlin. Since 2023, he’s been back home in Iceland, playing for the successful team Valur.
However, the club has announced that they will have to manage without Petersson in the near future. This is because he’s set for a short-term loan to the Qatari team, Al Arabi.
Qatari Venture: Petersson’s Short-Term Odyssey
The reason for the loan is that Al Arabi wants to strengthen their squad for their participation in the Asian Championship Cup, and they have found a solution with Petersson. The tournament takes place from November 17 to 27, where the winner secures a spot in the upcoming year’s Super Globe tournament.
The contract extends over a month, so Petersson will be back at Valur and in Iceland by the end of November, aiming to help Valur secure the league title.
