Egypt wins African Championship – Fourth in a row

Egypt claimed their fourth consecutive CAHB African Men’s Handball Championship title with a dominant 37–24 win over Tunisia in the 2026 final, marking their 10th overall title.

Both Egypt and Tunisia entered the semi-finals unbeaten, but Egypt overcame a tough challenge from Cape Verde, winning 32–26, with Yahia Omar scoring ten goals. In the final, Egypt pulled away early, led by Yahia Omar and Mohamed Emad, while goalkeeper Mohamed Aly made twelve crucial saves, securing the largest-ever margin in a final.

Cape Verde claimed bronze by defeating Algeria 29–23, earning their second medal in four appearances. Angola also qualified for the 2027 IHF Men’s World Championship after a 25–20 win over Nigeria, joining Egypt, Tunisia, Cape Verde, and Algeria.
