Only four teams remain in contention in the African Championship. Come Saturday, the semifinal day Tunisia, Senegal, Egypt and Angola meet up for the first part of medal action.
Angola was the only unbeaten team in the group stage which allowed for a comfortable quarterfinal, 34–15 over Algeria. The other group winner, Congo found themselves in larger trouble and crashed out of the top positions via the 24–28 loss to Tunisia.
Senegal repeated the performance from 2022 by defeating Cameroon 26–19 for a semifinal spot. As the podium positions loom the four best teams on the continent also has the 2025 World Championship to look forward to. This includes Egypt who took down DR Congo 23–22 in the most exciting playoff game so far.
In terms of WC qualification, Egypt prepares for championship debut in Germany and Netherlands. The title race in Kinshasa continues with Tunisia against Senegal and Egypt versus the reigning champion Angola.
