Dani Sarmiento ends high quality career

Dani Sarmiento, prominent centre back in Barca and the Spanish national team, has decides to step off the court. The last club location, BM Galdar in the third division will now benefit from his knowledge as a youth coach.

Sarmiento captained Spain in a succesful period with three gold medals (WC 2013 and Euro 2018 plus 2020). He joined Barca in 2009 and could lift the trophy in Champions League twice while accompanying the giant to six straight league titles.

The icon moved on to Saint Raphael-Var and had a short stint in Wisla Plock. His last year as an active player was hindered by ”physical discomfort” according to the club communication.

”Dani Sarmiento will continue to be associated with Balonmano Gáldar as a coach, a position he already held before returning as a player. His experience will continue to be key in the development of new talent.”, the Gran Canaria club writes in social media.
