Champions League: CSM defeats Esbjerg, Odense cruise past Blomberg-Lippe, Buducnost edge Sola

CSM Bucuresti handed Team Esbjerg their first defeat of the EHF Champions League campaign, while Odense Håndbold bounced back in style with a convincing win against HSG Blomberg-Lippe. Buducnost, edged Sola Håndballklubb in a dramatic finish. Here is Sunday’s round-up.

Team Esbjerg suffered their first defeat of the Champions League campaign as CSM Bucuresti claimed a 34–31 home win. The Danish side struggled to contain the hosts’ attack, and despite fighting their way back into the contest, Esbjerg were unable to turn things around. CSM held their nerve in the closing stages to secure two valuable points.

Odense Håndbold returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, defeating HSG Blomberg-Lippe 35–18 away from home. The Danish side made a flying start and established an early lead, leaving the German hosts with a mountain to climb. Odense maintained their dominance throughout the match to secure a comfortable victory.

Buducnost claimed their first points of the campaign after edging Sola Håndballklubb 23–22 in a dramatic encounter. Buducnost led 14–11 at half-time, but Sola fought back and levelled the score at 20–20 with six minutes remaining. The hosts eventually held on to claim a narrow victory in a tense finish.
