PLAY: Holstebro beat Benfica in close encounter

TTH Holstebro secured a narrow 32–31 victory over Benfica in the European League after holding off a late comeback from the Portuguese side.

The teams were level at 15–15 at half-time after a close opening 30 minutes. Holstebro had led by three midway through the half, but an improved Benfica defence and a strong performance from Swedish goalkeeper Tobias Thulin helped the visitors stay in the game.

The game remained tight for much of the second half before Holstebro created some breathing room late on. The Danish side moved 31–27 ahead with three minutes remaining, but Benfica responded with a late push.

Holstebro ultimately held on for a 32–31 win. Joachim Lying Als, Emil Grønbech Hansen and Emil Reinholdt Hansen scored five goals each for the hosts, while William Bogojevic and Alejandro Barbeito led Benfica with seven goals.
