Melsungen stun Magdeburg

In front of a roaring home crowd, MT Melsungen managed to deliver a shocking win against Magdeburg. Putting on a real offensive display, Melsungen picked apart Magdeburg’s defense, beating the champions 37-34.

It was looking like almost a mission impossible beforehand as Melsungen welcomed an unbeaten Magdeburg side for the fifth round of the Bundesliga. But the home side showed from minute one that they were more than ready for the challenge.

Coming out with blistering pace and loads of energy, Melsungen jumped out to a 5-1 lead, completely shocking Magdeburg. That ignited the home crowd, who were almost lifting the roof off in the opening minutes.

As expected, Magdeburg quickly recovered and found some offensive rhythm, especially Felix Claar, who got it going in the middle of the first half. But despite that, the away side never managed to get back to level terms on the scoreboard.

Melsungen kept playing at a high pace throughout the game and always managed to find ways to pick apart the Magdeburg defense. Magdeburg came as close as two goals behind with a few minutes left.

But that wasn’t enough, and Melsungen held on to an impressive win. The loss means Magdeburg lose ground at the top of the table, now standing two points behind Kiel and Flensburg.
