GWD Minden put all effort in to leave the relegation zone. The local derby against TBV Lemgo Lippe was in the hands of the away teams already from the start and Minden secured a four-goal triumph, 32–28.
Despite not winning a game since mid-December Minden saw their chances to boost the moral with two vital points.
Philipp Vorlicek and Morten Hempel Jensen powered through in offensive positions as Minden took control of the game. A clear lead didn’t change the fact that the point-hungry team had some setbacks, towards the end of the first half Karolis Antanavicius was given a red card and Daniel Astrup Pedersen also was sent off court towards the end.
By then, Minden´s advantage was untouchable and the two points gained meant advancing to position 16, one point ahead of both HSG Wetzlar and SC Leipzig below the line.
Rhein-Neckar Löwen controlled the other Friday match with productive play from Haukar Thrastarson and Dani Baijens to 30–22 over MT Melsungen. From eighth place in the table, RNL might launch a sprint in the four rounds remaining with realistic hopes and finishing sixth.
