Magdeburg edge closer to Bundesliga title

Magdeburg continues to impress in the Bundesliga. Göppingen was defeated 27–23 away from home, keeping Magdeburg’s seven-point advantage at the top.

With just seven games left of the season, Magdeburg has pulled away in the Bundesliga title race. A seven-point gap down to chasing Füchse Berlin looks like too great of an advantage, especially as Magdeburg doesn’t seem to have any plans of dropping points.

Yesterday, Göppingen was defeated away from home despite some first-half struggles. The home side had the lead 14–13 at the break, but Magdeburg then turned it up a gear in the second half. Only conceding nine goals after the break, the league leaders turned the game around to win 27–23.

Three other games were played in the Bundesliga yesterday. Hamburg edged a one-goal win, 30–29, against Minden, and Erlangen pulled off something of a surprise with a 29–27 win against Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Second-placed Füchse Berlin made no mistake, completely running over Leipzig 39–26.
