Confirmed: Andreas Palicka to Wetzlar and Berlin

Goalkeeper icon Andreas Palicka is back in Bundesliga. The rumours from recent months was proven correct – Palicka will play for HSG Wetzlar for the rest of the season and joins Füchse Berlin in the summer.

The latest piece in the Palicka puzzle was added earlier this week when Kolstad HB announced that Palicka became free to leave during the season due to the financial problems of the Norwegian Champions League side.

HSG Wetzlar will be the 39-year-old’s nearest club address and his first in Germany since 2021.

– I am very happy to be here at HSG Wetzlar and back in Bundesliga. I am grateful for the trust the club has shown in me. I want to contribute and do everything I can to ensure that we stay in the league, he tells the club’s website.

Wetzlar is second to last in the table after 20 rounds and Palicka is on site to train with the team for the first time on Friday.

Whether Wetzlar keeps their top league status or not, the keeper is already bound for another club in 2026/27.

Füchse Berlin, with a free position after Dejan Milosavljev’s departure to Kielce, allows Palicka to form a goalkeeping duo with youngster Lasse Ludwig.

– I’m very happy that it worked out and that I can play for Füchse from this summer. The project here in Berlin is fantastic, and I’m excited to be a part of it, Palicka tells the club’s website about the second part of the transfer news.
